The Kings Rule

We loved the Kings of Leon, and the songs from the new album blend so well into the live set. It was the first time we had been to an amphitheatre like that, we had good seats, though no one was going to be sitting for this show, and it actually felt like we were in a huge school gymnasium. They kicked off with Crawl, which slowly rumbles to life and has such a dark moodiness to it. There were times in the show where it felt like they were going through the motions, and then all of a sudden they would lift everything right up again and it sounded amazing. Those moments were usually the best songs off the last album, and the new single Radioactive was great live too. The drummer Nathan Followill was like a rock all night, he looks so relaxed but his drumming not only drives everything along, he holds the whole thing together too. Of course the crowd went wild for anything they did especially Sex on Fire and Use Somebody.

The main support band we loved, they are from Ohio called the Black Keys, check them out if you get the chance. The show started with a local band from Athens, Georgia called The Whigs, who managed to raise a raucous reception, never easy to do as the first band on. They have an album out called In The Dark.
