Indigo September 2014

It was exciting going back to Indigo again, the area was very well laid out and full of great design ! This Indigo was certainly the busiest show (for visitors) we have done in the past few years, and it was how shows used to be, I am guessing before the recession hit, this show had a real buzz. Being a last minute exhibitor meant our booth had to be fitted in, but we ended up in a very good place that could be seen from all round, including from Premier Vision. The good thing is we connected again with some clients we had not seen for a few years, and we also have some good follow up contacts, which is really what these shows should be about.

Here are a few shots of the booth :

We might be back for the Spring Indigo show too ..  hold this space !

A big thanks to Bowie at Print Pattern for putting our flyer up on her blog too !

Surtex 2014 - A Sign Of The Times ?

A big thanks to our regular clients that came to the booth this year, the new artwork in the print collection was well received. We met one or two new clients, and a couple came across from the stationery fair, but the show was definitely a lot quieter this year and it looked like the attendance was way down. After all the work that goes into the booth, and the new artwork, it is disappointing that the visitors to the show are getting less and less.

Building the wall at the front of the booth was a challenge, the edges of the foamcore had to fit into a quarter inch metal slot, so cutting the board was a precision job ! We sealed the joins at the back with white duck tape. it was hard to spot the join once all the artwork was up.

An Oasis of fun amid the construction !

Surtex Booth 2014

This year we walled in the front of the booth, a first for Surtex ! It actually worked really well, in that it gave us an extra wall on which to put our artwork. Visitors accessed the booth via an open doorway, and it was very hard for them to resist looking in to see what was inside. Even the other vendors found that their curiosity got the better of them ! The booth stayed cool throughout the show and it offered privacy to the clients that sat down to view the prints.

Craft and Hobby Association Show, Anaheim, California - January 11th - 14th 2014 !

We missed the CHA Show last year because it clashed with the Hong Kong Stationery Fair. We are back this year as part of the British Pavilion at Booth 1740, and it looks like it's going to be a great show to start the New Year ! The atmosphere at one of these shows is always exciting, and apart from all the new products on display, there are a lot of other things going on as well !

Surtex 2012

This year's Surtex was a little quieter than last year, but it was still very busy for us. The nice thing is we always seem to meet new clients each year, which is the reason we try to make the booth as exciting as possible. Sunday is turning out to be the busiest day in recent years, which is surprising as New York was in the middle of a heat wave when the show started ! Blue skies, bright sunshine and a multitude of weekend street markets would normally be a good reason not to be at a Trade Show, but visitors turned up in numbers from early on Sunday morning. There did seem to be more exhibitors this year, which is a good sign in the current economic climate, and walking round the hall the booths were looking bright and exciting.
By Monday the weather had changed dramatically to grey skies and rain, and the Javitz decided to let it rain on a few of the Exhibitors as well ! Due to a few leaks in the roof of the centre, water was descending into the hall, and it was pot luck if you were underneath it or not ! We were lucky, but just two rows over a couple of the booths had to get covered in large sheets to protect the artwork while workmen fixed the leaks.
Surtex is a show we look forward to every year, it does take a lot of planning and work putting the displays together, but for us that is all part of the creative process as well.

Oh no, it's raining !
