Jemma & Julie Gould at Surtex 15th-17th of May

Jemma and Julie Gould are twin sisters, and both exciting print designers based in the Midlands in the UK. After graduating from Staffordshire University in 2006 with degrees in Design Surface Pattern and gaining experience in the industry, they have now joined forces with us here at Cinnamon Joe Studio, creating innovative prints for our print collection. We love their graphic style, it is like a breath of fresh air !
So far their designs have sold to Paperchase, American Greetings and Gartner Greetings. They are happy to describe their work as contemporary, quirky and illustrative and it has a strong emphasis on line, colour and pattern. You can see a portfolio selection online at the Cinnamon Joe website: http://www.cinnamonjoestudio.com/JemmaAndJulie.html

If you would like to see their collection of prints please email us info@cinnamonjoestudio.com or come and see us at Surtex at Booth 312 from the 15th to the 17th of May !

Southern Storms

Driving north past Chatanooga yesterday afternoon, the sky just went black !  In no time at all there was a huge downpour of rain, half inch hailstones rattling on the top of the car, sheet lightning, huge claps of thunder and a warning on the radio to "get under cover if you can" as a tornado was expected in the next 30 minutes ! It's pretty hard to get off the highway under those conditions, and the places to shelter under the bridges were already taken. Luckily, after driving for what seemed like an eternity at 20 miles an hour with the warning lights flashing, the storm passed. Here are a couple of photos taken with the iphone :

Just after the storm passed, fortunately no damage to the car from the hailstones either :

Seeing all the damage in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Tennessee this morning makes you realise the terrifying power of these storms. It looks like the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa was a mile wide and pretty much destroyed the town !

Another Northern Irish Band : Snow Patrol !

One of the best live bands we have seen are Snow Patrol. We were lucky enough to see them at the Odyssey in Belfast just before we moved over to Georgia and it was a great night !

Continuing on in the this weeks mellow mood, here are a couple of tracks, the first is a beautiful song called Set The Fire To The Third Bar :

The second is a haunting track called Just Say Yes :

Williams - Sonoma

We went for out a birthday meal with a couple of great friends on Monday night, and spotted these windows at Williams - Sonoma. For those who don't know, Williams - Sonoma sell anything to do with the kitchen, from beautiful copper pans to every gadget you can imagine. There are loads of exciting recipe books scattered through the store too.  We seem to have collected so many cook books over the years, but we always have room for one more !

These images made the food look so good we had to hunt out the recipe's !

Some more shots from round the store, lots of bright colours everywhere :

Mellow Monday : Embrace

We have so much going right now, we wanted to have a week of mellow music ! Hopefully things should slow down after Surtex, and it's nice to unwind to some great chill music.

Embrace are an English band from Bailiff Bridge, Brighouse in Yorkshire that have made a couple of amazing albums. One is Out Of Nothing and the other is This New Day. This track is called Target and is off the This New Day album, the singer has such a great voice :

Arche

In the Westchester Mall up in New York state a couple of weeks ago, one shop had the most amazing windows. There are so many bright acid colours around at the moment, and Arche really showed these off with their display. The windows just catch your eye and the shoes inside were to die for :
